Wednesday 8/2 Back in Chippenham
It was a hectic day.
We start the actual shooting tomorrow and there is a curious mixture of excitement, nervousness, fear. Nick (the director of photography) and I spent a good part of the evening building the video village trolley and testing the camera here in Chippenham. Nick and I were pretty proud of the job we did with the video village trolley, even though the base had seen better days. We got it down to one power input and a cable harness consisting of three Cat-6 Ethernet cables: one for camera data, one for USB data to allow the camera to control the application that manages the camera, and one for the video data effectively acts as the ‘viewfinder’. Our cable harness is 100 feet long so that means that the Video Village can by pretty far away from the whole camera setup. Here is basic schematic of the setup:
I will be stationed at the “Video Village” and managing the data end of things. That includes providing playback of the last shot to Mark (the director) as well as watching out for image / capture problems from the camera. I am definitely nervous about how everything will work together.
I am going to try to sleep.
