Christian propaganda

Mark just relayed an interesting story. We are still missing an actor for one of the minor parts. Mark had an actor in mind and emailed him a script to read so that he could decide if he wanted the part. When he got back to Mark he said he wanted no part in a “Christian Propaganda” film. I respect that individual for standing on his principles but it does raise a question in my mind as to what the public or general perception of Christianity is? That person who turned down the part clearly believes that Christianity is bad in the same way that I believe that racial discrimination is bad.

It puzzles me as to how the message of Jesus can be perceived as evil or negative.

It's not the Christianity per se, it's the way it has been used, like the Muslim faith, as a rationale for murder, cruelty, opportunism, racism, sexism, political power mongering and all the other things that the religion itself purports to abhor - but very few people ever condemn those who do such things. They prefer to ruffle up their feathers and say things to defend the religion. Millions of people have been robbed, raped, tortured, murdered or killed in "just wars" in the name of, or with the blessing of, Christian leaders and Ministers/Priests. Americans have always gone to war knowing "God is on our side". That's how people learn to see Muslims, Christians, Jews - any faith, really, in a bad light.
